Jimbelunga celebrates NAIDOC 2017

The weather turned on a treat for our residents, their families and friends and staff at Jimbelunga our nursing centre based at Eagleby for their NAIDOC celebrations on 6 July. Jimbelunga was first established to support the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the day was all about honouring its heritage.

The event was held in Jimbelunga’s new cultural area, which was finished only a couple of weeks ago.

The day’s festivities saw everyone enjoying music, food and dancing by Torres Strait Islander dance troupe – Malu-Kiai Mura Buai, with tunes by John Cornelius.

And the kids didn’t miss out either joining residents at arts stations with boomerang and face painting.
