Today is National Sorry Day and a time of deep reflection and to also celebrate our culture and the courage and survival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. We’d like to give a very special thank you to Aunty Laurette who shared her story as a survivor of the Stolen Generation with residents and ATSICHS Brisbane staff through a live video link. She was very generous with her time and it was touching to hear her personal journey. We also presented Aunty Laurette with a Stolen Generation flower as a token of our appreciation on this emotional day. Thanks also go to Tina for her Welcome to Country, Trevor who spoke about his history and to Belinda for her heartfelt words in this time of healing. While today stirred up many memories and was at times difficult, our residents and staff felt blessed for the support of their Jimbelunga family.
